A Word From
Teresa
Founder/Director
My name is Teresa Kaufman, and I started Tiny Scholars Daycare so my daughter would have an opportunity to learn Mandarin as well as her Chinese heritage. My family immigrated to Los Angeles from Taiwan when I was 3 years old and my husband does not speak Mandarin. I knew early on that it was important for my daughter to learn Chinese, 1) so she could communicate with my parents and relatives in Taiwan, and 2) so that she could have more opportunities in our globalizing economy.
Our Vision
Our mission is to provide for families that want their children to learn Mandarin Chinese in an individualized learning environment. We believe that the best ways for children to learn languages is to be immersed in it through play, songs, and fun learning activities.
What Parents are Saying
Mary, Mother
I came across Tiny Scholars when searching for a new Mandarin immersion preschool for our son. In my initial phone conversation with the owner Teresa, she explained her philosophy which was very much in line with ours so I arranged a tour of the school. As a former teacher, she has the experience and background in childhood development we were looking for. Our son usually takes awhile to warm up to new people and environments but we were surprised at how quickly he felt comfortable during our visit. It is evident that a lot of thought was put into setting up the space, from the reading corner to the art wall to the outdoor play area.
The space fosters creativity and self-exploration.
Cecilia, Mother
When I first enrolled my child at this school it was really all about the mandarin. That and they provide fresh, nutritious, hot lunches. What a perk! But after being at the school for a year now, all I can say is that we are thoroughly satisfied and pleased with our decision to place our daughter here. The environment is nurturing and fun. The teachers and caregivers are wonderful and caring. The ratio is great and lower than what you'd find at most other schools. They take trips to the park to let the kids get their energy out. The kids all seem to love being in school and the teachers all seem to love being there, which says a lot about the school. There are constant, continued efforts to improve the school. They don't just rest on their laurels or get complacent. I really like that. :)

Ms. Teresa has a wonderful establishment. She really understands the behavior and developmental needs of children and her facility is clean, well organized, and equipped with activities and toys that promote growth and learning. In addition, she provides you with updates and pictures throughout the day, so you know how your little one is doing. Leaving your child at school may not be easy, but you can rest assured your child is in good hands at Tiny Scholars. The staff genuinely care for these children.
